1. What is RESET 2020?

RESET 2020 is a free online support and advice program designed specifically for social purpose organisations. It is an initiative of The Xfactor Collective and supported by the Equity Trustees Sector Capacity Building Fund and social purpose sector leaders. RESET 2020 will be delivered through bi-weekly live and interactive Q&A sessions featuring subject matter specialists offering practical, relevant support and sharing insights and inspiring case studies.

The topics will be informed by a National Impact+Need Research Study, which will map the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, and the changing needs of social sector organisations. RESET 2020 programming will initially begin with 12 live broadcasts and Q&A sessions over May and June, featuring 15 subject matter specialists across a broad range of topics from change and culture, communications and marketing, governance and strategy, fundraising and partnerships, technology and e-commerce.

2. What are the objectives of the Research Study?

  • To understand the current and immediate impacts for the social sector as a result of COVID-19 and its impact especially in terms of viability, staffing, ability to fulfill normal activities and mental health
  • To determine the immediate support and / or intervention requirements for these organisations (recognising it may be different depending on circumstances)
  • To understand anticipated impacts over the longer term and where support and interventions may need to change
  • To establish a baseline from which future research can be tracked
  • To determine what interventions and support have had a positive impact (provides learnings for the future)
  • To feed into the development of the ongoing program of live presentations by The Xfactor Collective to start to address the most important issues identified

3. Who is designing and managing the research project?

RESET 2020 is an initiative of The Xfactor Collective, with the support of Equity Trustees, and is a collaborative effort involving many of The Collective’s specialist business members. 4. What are the phases of research?

Phase 1: The first phase (Weeks 1-6) establishes the baseline, with the survey launching week commencing 20 April 2020, with an interim set of findings ready during May. This will inform the first tranche of the program topics. The first survey will remain open until late May. Key interim findings will be shared with Equity Trustees and outreach partners. (See more below)

Phase 2: A detailed set of findings from the baseline phase will be prepared and shared as outlined below.

Phase 3: The research will be repeated at three subsequent intervals - Week 10, Week 20 and Week 30. This will enable us to monitor the evolving impacts of COVID-19 and adapt our programming to support emerging issues.

5. How will the findings be shared?

Collation and sharing of the interim and detailed findings, plus subsequent Interval Tracking, will be managed by The Xfactor Collective, in consultation with Equity Trustees. We will endeavour to share the findings far and wide, for the benefit of the wider sector will be made. This will include but not be limited to, sharing of the findings online, through sector media and through online events.
